Cavalier Preview: Radford

So just like I was obligated to continue doing football write ups throughout the season, I have the same responsibilities to discuss tonights opponent in the Radford Highlanders.  And when you think Virginia might have a little hangover from the road-trip, RU is the perfect remedy.

For those not familiar with the Kilters, Radford is close to Virginia Tech in Southwest Virginia and plays in the Big South Conference.  They are 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in the BSC.  Oh, and it gets worse.  Radford’s two wins? Division III opponent Emory & Henry (won by 3 at home) and Methodist (won by 9 at home).  Blow outs in 4 of their 5 losses to South Carolina, George Mason, UNCC, and UNCA.  And to top it off, they are 334th in the country in field goal percentage at 36.5%.

The Highlander’s best players are guard from Turkey Gorkem Sonmez (10.9 ppg, 2.4 rpg) and forward Johnathan Edwards (8.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.0 apg).  Other than that, it could be any one of 10 other players who get in on the mix.

Let be honest guys, this will be a good game to get some practice in before exam break and will probably be a blowout by halftime.  What I would like to see is Regan and Mitchell getting some good work in to get ready for stiffer competition coming up.

So root on the Hoos tonight, cause it will the last live action for a while.
